WESTWOOD—Co-Founder of Death Row Records, Marion “Suge” Knight was involved in a fatal hit-and-run on Thursday, January 29 in Compton.
The victim was Terry Carter, 55, who was killed when Knight put his vehicle in reverse and ran over Carter. Also injured during the incident was Cle Sloan, 51. Knight has been taken into custody by authorities and booked on suspicion of murder. According to reports, Knight allegedly knew both victims.
James Blatt, Knight’s lawyer admits to the Associated Press that Suge was behind the wheel, but the incident was accidental.
“We are confident that once the investigation is completed, he will be totally exonerated,” Blatt said. “He was in the process of being physically assaulted by two men and in an effort to escape him unfortunately hit two other individuals. He was in his car trying to escape.”
According to reports, bystanders have come forward claiming that Knight wasn’t trying to escape an altercation, but rather hit both men in the heat of the argument.
His bail has been set at $2 million.
