SAN FRANCISCO—San Francisco Animal Care and Control officers are asking for public help in finding the person who brutalized a dog found on May 14.
The dog, given the name Maximilian, was found tied up near the crossing of Division and South Van Ness. It was there that a public works crew found him beaten and burned, left with injuries so gruesome that the SFACC has refused to release video footage of his condition.
“Larger burns and cigarette burns look to us to be older injuries,” said Virginia Donohue, director of SFACC in an interview with ABC7’s Katie Marzullo. “The blunt force trauma, the damage to his internal organs has to be very recent.”
Maximilian was subsequently placed under intensive care, but his injuries were too severe and he was put to sleep.
In an effort to bring his abuser to justice the SFACC has posted a $10,000 reward for anyone that provides information that leads to his abuser’s capture.
