ANAHEIM—After missing his last start, Los Angeles Angels ace Jered Weaver is eying Thursday night to make his return to the rotation.
Weaver was scratched from his Friday night start against the Detroit Tigers due to tendinitis in his shoulder. The American League’s best pitcher for most of the season, Weaver began to struggle of late, with a near 5 ERA in the month of August.
The Angels will play the second of a four-game series against the wild card leading Oakland Athletics tonight. Weaver’s start will be the last game of this crucial series.
The Angels’ loss last night snapped a six-game win streak that saw them climb to within one game of the Baltimore Orioles for the second wild card spot.
