HOLLYWOOD—So many reasons why people cheat. The need for a “secret life,” mid life-crisis, boredom or a way of just escaping intimacy. Some men are so intimated by successful women. If you’re a celebrity, the media will drag it out, sometimes take sides, and you will read about the infidelities in every gossip magazine and newspaper around the globe. Sometimes the reasons are purely physical, sometimes they are often more complex. Just last week, Demi Moore graced the cover of People Magazine and from the likes of the cover story, they are firmly in Ashton’s camp. While the magazine suggested Ashton’s cheating they also suggested that Demi’s insecurities helped drive their split. Truth be told, of course, she would be upset. Any woman would react to an ex’s new relationship, even a celebrity. The magazine stated, the actress will mark her 50th birthday on Nov. 11 and is wrapping a challenging year: Her 6-year marriage to Ashton Kutcher, 34, ended last November in the wake of the actor’s public cheating scandal; she was hospitalized last January; and since then she has endured intense scrutiny of her well-being. Demi is a scorpio and she will survive, even though she has to learn to cope with her ex’s very public affair with actress Mila Kunis, 29. We feel her pain, and we have no personal connection to these people. Just wondering-why did People Magazine run this story? Did Ashton sanction the theory of “move on?” Demi is currently in post-production in a film titled “Very Good Girls,” which is scheduled for release sometime in 2013.
A film that was being watched by many people this past week in the East Coast was “The Perfect Storm.” You may recall the film released in 2000, starring George Clooney (Billy Tyne), captain of the Andrea Gail, about the story of the ship’s brave and hard-working crew who didn’t have much luck finding catch on trips to the sea. The tropical hurricane in October from Bermuda collided with a cold front from the Great Lakes, resulting in a “perfect storm,” a destructive impact that resulted in 100-foot waves; which tragically, the crew of the fishing vessel was lost at sea. Sadly, the East Coast embraced Hurricane Sandy, a rare superstorm, being nicknamed “Frankenstorm.” The storm sent everyone into a frenzy and panic in the East Coast looking for batteries, flashlights and generators.
Speaking of films, “Flight,” which will be released on Nov. 2 will be one of the classic films about alcoholism. Denzel Washington’s performance is getting a lot of buzz, in my opinion, his greatest performance to date. Denzel is extremely believable as an alcoholic. The film is entertaining and Washington’s performance is riveting. I just can’t imagine watching it onboard a flight, it would be a bit creepy.
Let the Oscar buzz begin. There is a lot of talk about Ben Affeck’s “Argo.” Audiences and critics are raving about the film which tackles international espionage. Another film is “The Master,” starring Joaquin Phoenix and Philip Seymour Hoffman. Being released on Nov. 21, is “Life of Pi,” by Ang Lee.
Rose’s Scoop: Unless you have been living under a rock, you have heard of PSY, the 34 year-old Korean rapper behind the viral video hit “Gangnam Style,” has reached over 200 million views on You Tube. The video is so entertaining.
