SHERMAN OAKS—Actor Luke Perry died Monday, March 4, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Burbank from complications he sustained from a massive stroke he suffered last week. Luke was surrounded by his children Jack and Sophie, fiancé Wendy Madison and other family members.
On Wednesday, February 27, the 52-year-old star was rushed to the hospital from his Sherman Oaks home after a family member called 911 to report that Perry was suffering from a stroke. The actor was responsive while speaking to paramedics from the Los Angeles Fire Department indicated the actor’s publicist Arnold Robinson.
Officials reported that doctors sedated Luke, hoping to give his brain a chance to recover from the stroke. Perry remained “under observation” for four days to track his progress until he passed away Monday morning.
Perry is best known for his role on the 90s hit series “Beverly Hills 90210.” He currently starred on the CW series “Riverdale” where he portrayed Fred Andrews, the father of Archie Andrews (KJ Apa).”Riverdale” suspended production of the series on Monday after learning about Perry’s passing.
His co-stars took to Twitter to express their condolences to the actor’s passing. Lili Reinhart, Perry’s co-star on “Riverdale” tweeted “I’m finding it hard to grasp that he will no longer be around to give long hugs and share his wisdom and kindness with all of us. I’m thinking of his family. His children. I pray for them to heal and find peace in this devastating loss.”
Ian Zeiring, Perry’s co-star from “Beverly Hills 90210” tweeted, “Dearest Luke,
I will forever bask in the loving memories we’ve shared over the last thirty years. May your journey forward be enriched by the magnificent souls who have passed before you, just like you have done here, for those you leave behind.”
Perry’s passing comes just after news was released by FOX that a reboot of the hit series “90210” would be returning to the screen. While Perry had not signed on to star in the series, he hoped to make a cameo.
The reboot is set to star Perry’s former colleagues Tori Spelling, Jennie Garth, Ian Ziering and Gabrielle Carteris. Garth tweeted on February 27 “The word is out!! We are coming back 2 @FOXTV! I can’t wait to go back to work with friends on #90210onfox.”
