HOLLYWOOD—It’s that time again when celebrities flock to the Coachella Music Festival. This year the celebrities are covered in rhinestones and flowers. Coachella 2019 is underway. It started on April 12 and ends on April 21. The queen of Coachella, none other than Paris Hilton, arrived wearing floral kitty ears, a luminescent backpack, silver sequin jacket, rainbow maxi dress and metallic silver boots.
At Coachella, a lot of tie-dye this year, 70s-inspired T-shirts and maxi-dresses. The western look, was onboard with cowboy boots. YouTube sensations Logan Paul and Jake Paul made an entrance to the Empire Polo Club dressed in hard to miss printed pants. The brothers had a large entourage with them.
Gigi Hadid gave a peace sign wearing a tie-dye denim vest, white cropped top, white pants and black boots. The model enjoyed herself with friends. David Beckham’s son wore an unbuttoned striped shirt that exposed his cupid tattoo on his belly. Romeo Beckham, 16, was spotted wearing a purple Hawaiian shirt, black trousers, white socks, and two-tone sneakers.
Courtney Love and the late Kurt Cobain‘s daughter Frances Bean Cobain were spotted roaming the grounds with her boyfriend. Vanessa Hudgens and her boyfriend Austin Butler were seen lounging on the grass at the polo field. She looked hippie chic in a patterned crochet dress, brown boots, and wide-brimmed straw hat. Billie Eilish made an entrance to her first Coachella ever, on an electrical scooter wearing a Louis Vuitton vest, highlighter yellow tee, furry pants, and highlighter yellow sneakers. She wore a backwards visor and sporty shades.
The talk of Coachella was none other than the Queen Bee, not only did Beyonce’s Netflix documentary, “Homecoming,” arrive, but with a surprise: a new Beyonce album. The star, announced her new record just hours prior to the “Homecoming” premiere. The film and the album capture her 2018 Coachella set-which celebrated black power and liberation.
They include live versions of “Crazy in Love” and “Drunk in Love,” as well as her reunion with Destiny’s Child. Fans will be surprised by a cover of Maze’s 1981 hit “Before I Let Go,” which plays over the closing credits of the film on the new studio recording. Beyoncé’s Coachella performance – which took place over two weekends last April – marked the first time a black woman had headlined the festival.
The Beychella star pulled out all the stops, employing dozens of dancers and an elaborate marching band, acknowledging the importance of historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) – institutions established in the US before the 1964 Civil Rights Act to serve the black community that was shut out by predominantly white establishments.
The film has been a wave of acclaim. The New York Times described the film – which is almost 150 minutes long – as consisting of footage “viewers have already seen (and, perhaps, seen again and again) this time through a greater variety of angles and Instagram-like filters.”
Beyoncé is a breath of fresh air in the film. You can’t deny the DNA, Blue Ivy Carter showcases her vocal skills in the film. Blue sounds exactly as you would expect, a cute 7-year-old. She also knows what to do with an auction paddle-raise it high. Blue walked away with a work of art at $10,000.
