HOLLYWOOD—Fashion designer Oscar de la Renta died after battling cancer for several years on Monday, October 20 at his residence in Kent, Connecticut. He was 82.
Oscar has designed clothing for many celebrities including Emily Blunt, Jessica Alba, Tina Fey, Sarah Jessica Parker, and most recently designed the wedding dress for actor George Clooney’s bride, Amal Alamuddin.
Kenneth Cole, another famous fashion designer, tweeted, “The fashion business says goodbye to a mentor, a legend & an icon. He defined a standard we can only aspire to. #RIPOscarDeLaRenta”
Star of television series “Teen Wolf” Colton Haynes tweeted, “Oscar…may you rest in peace. Your mark on the world will last forever. Enjoy the beautiful gardens…”
The fashion designer grew to fame in the 1960s where he was responsible for dressing former first lady Jacqueline Kennedy.
