SAN FRANCISCO—The San Francisco Police Department announced on its website that an at-risk 4 year-old who was kidnapped has been found and the suspect who took her is now in custody.

On Tuesday, October 24, officers responded to the 1100 block of Mission St. at approximately 1:30 a.m. regarding a report of a kidnapping. Officers arrived on scene and met with the father of 4-year-old Fatima Abuzahra. The investigation determined that Fatima was taken from her home by a relative, Enas Birawi, without the father’s knowledge or consent.

Fatima and Enas were last seen in the area of the 600 block of Eddy St. in San Francisco. Authorities reported that Enas was possibly staying at a hotel in the region. Enas was accompanied by her 8-year-old biological son during the incident.

Investigators and officers followed up on every lead and continued a city-wide search for the victim and suspect. On October 24, at approximately 5:30 p.m. officers located Abuzahra, the suspect, and the suspect’s 8-year-old son on the 1500 block of Lombard St. All appeared to be in good physical health.

Officers reunited Abuzahra with her father, as well as the suspect’s son whose custody was given to his father. Investigators are working with the San Francisco Human Services Agency and the Family and Children’s Services Division of Child Protective Services (CPS).

Investigators developed probable cause to arrest Enas Birawi for the felony charges of kidnapping (207 PC) and child endangerment (273a PC).  The SFPD are still investigating the case. Anyone with details is asked to contact the SFPD at 1-415-575-4444 or text a tip to TIP411 and begin the message with SFPD. Tipsters can remain anonymous.
