SAN FRANCISCO—On March 25, the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office announced that Ossiel Torres, 22, was charged for his role in 21 vandalism incidents that transpired in a single night in the Richmond District. Torres was arraigned on March 22, and pleaded not guilty to all charges. He is charged with 22 counts of vandalism (PC 594(b)(1)).
According to San Francisco Police Department, on March 19, at approximately 8:58 p.m., officers from the Richmond station responded to the area of 12th Avenue and Anza Street regarding a vandalism suspect who slashed 20 vehicle tires. Officers canvassed the region and through the course of their investigation, determined Torres had allegedly vandalized over 20 vehicles in the area.
His next court date is April 5, for the preliminary hearing in this matter. The District Attorney’s Office requested he be held in custody and referred to Assertive Case Management (ACM) to determine what release conditions, if any, would ensure public safety and his return to court. The Court granted the People’s request and referred the case for an in-custody assessment by ACM. The Court also issued a Stay Away Order that requires Ossiel Torres to stay out of the area bounded by Anza Street, 10th Avenue, Balboa Street, and Funston Avenue.
