ST. LOUIS—Baseball outfielder for the St. Louis Cardinals, Oscar Taveras, 22, was killed in a car collision on October 26 in the Dominican Republic.
According to reports, Taveras was driving with his girlfriend in the car, when it went off the road. She was also killed in the crash.
Officials are investigating the cause of the collision.
Taveras’ teammate Kolten Wong tweeted, “Wow! My heart truly hurts to hear the passing of Oscar! I’ve played with him every year and we truly lost a great person! #RIPOscarTaveras.”
