SAN FRANCISCO—Local police are seeking the driver of a vehicle who is wanted for striking a pedestrian and leaving the scene last month.
A news release from the San Francisco Police Department indicates that on Tuesday, August 21 around 9:50pm, officers from Bayview Station were on patrol when they were flagged down by a person reporting that a man was down in the intersection of Alameda Street and San Bruno Avenue. After arriving at the scene, officers discovered the victim, a 36-year-old male of San Francisco lying in the road. Paramedics transported the victim to the hospital where he is recovering from his life threatening injuries.
Investigating officers found that the victim had been hit by a vehicle that fled the scene. While the exact circumstances of the collision are still under investigation, initial information indicates the motorist may have intentionally struck the pedestrian.
Using witness statements and evidence, police have identified the suspect vehicle as a white, compact, sport utility vehicle similar to a Toyota Rav-4. The vehicle is possibly a two-door model with a spare tire attached to the rear of the vehicle. In addition, the spare tire is encased in a hard cover matching the white vehicle paint. Information also has been discovered by investigators which places the suspect vehicle in the area of Alameda Avenue and San Bruno Street between 9:40pm and 9:55pm.
