SAN FRANCISCO—The San Francisco 49ers released starting cornerback Tramaine Brock on Friday, April 7, one day after he was arrested in Santa Clara on a domestic violence charge involving his girlfriend. Brock, 28, was arrested at 9:35 p.m. in Santa Clara.
The incident allegedly took place at Brock’s residence, less than a mile from the team’s headquarters. Authorities called to investigate the domestic dispute, discovered a woman Brock apparently had been dating with visible injuries indicated Lt. Dan Moreno of the Santa Clara Police Department.
The team has not released an official comment on Brock’s dismissal. Brock’s arrest was the 15th arrest for a 49ers player since 2012. It was also the first arrest under the new regime of SF 49ers General Manager John Lynch and Head Coach Kyle Shanahan. A few hours after Brock’s release, Lynch and Shanahan cut Brock, who has been a starter for the last two seasons.
Brock made bail and was released on Friday at 12 p.m. after being taken into custody for suspicion of felony domestic violence. The football star did not make a comment after being released from the police station.
The 5 foot and 10 inch tall, 197 pounds NFL star started all 16 games as cornerback last season and 40 for the San Francisco 49er team in his seven-season career. Brock was one of just five players remaining from the 49ers’ most recent Super Bowl appearance.
